Laughing Chickens

by Max Bouillet

On the road to immortality,
the ghosts of opossums, armadillos,
lemmings, and other suicidal animals
hold hands and taunt,

“Red rover. Red rover.
We dare the humans over!”

Knowing that we shouldnÂ’t play the game,
(but unable to turn down a dare)
we lower our heads
and charge across the road.

To make a long story short...
weÂ’re clothes-lined,
fall into the road,
and get run over by evolution.

(and the chicken that made it
to the other side is laughing
his tail feathers off)

*grin*... out of the mouth of you... twelve monkey’s, here we come!!... brilliant, not that i would expect anything less from you... would this just not be exactly what we'd deserve?... you humble and crack me up all in the same breath... blessings...

'and get ran over by evolution.' Thats the paradox. Technical evolution replacing the real evolution. Essence remains the same where as the cream and clothes become symbols of evolution. hahahaha

aww, finally the sequel to animal farm! bwaahahaha! Knowing that we shouldn’t play the game, (but unable to turn down a dare)....ain't that the truth? human nature is such a biotch!

Superb wake up call Max. As you've so eloquently described it, makes me wonder if it's inevitable or avoidable; perhaps if we look both ways before we charge???

What an interesting little poem (funny haha) Those squirrels are getting suicidal too, they just stop in the middle of the road until I beep at them to move.

ahahahahahhahaa - I shall laugh with the chickens - also loved the "run over by evolution" line. Thanks for this. Now I know the answer to why the chicken crossed the road - luring me, luring me..... ;)
