A waterless tree by Sam Roberts
The jack-knife and me sat together.
Chewing itÂ’s steal slowly
Posing in the reflection - bent, mouldering.
Carving nothing because my flesh is parched
This love is waterless,
I told you yesterday that I was just a tree.
I cannot carve myself, you must carve me.

Though it may appear this poem is not about self mutilation. Just to clarify that..I'm not really sure what it's about.

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 02/15/14 at 11:44 PM I'm not sure either, but it makes me think, and I like the images here and those last two lines just bring a lot of possible outcomes to mind. |
