What then? by Paganini Jones
Imagine
If God said
I am going to change the world
in much the same way
that
you say
I will change my shirt
or
I might say
I am going to change that wallpaper
Just imagine
God saying
That?
What then?
Would He leave it
In a heap
On the bathroom floor?
If He did,
Would the climate change
For the better
Or worse?
Would we have
More
Global warming
From the steam
Of his bath
Or
Because he left
The wall heater on
By mistake?
Would he
Strip it off
In long damp strips,
Roll all the bits
Into
A rubbish bag
And give us
Eternal night?
How would it be?
Would we notice?
Or say
The nights are drawing in
Could we survive
If he left us
Out in the rain?
What would happen
When the bin men came
And took all the paper
To be recycled
Or burnt?
Imagine
If God said
I am going to change the world
What then?

Posted by Kate Demeree on 09/03/04 at 04:23 AM Ummm.... very thought provoking! I like the imagry here... You not only make a person stop and think of God in a different light, but to look at and into themselves. Great Poem! |
Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 10/29/04 at 07:30 PM there is some powerful ponderance here to consider. now if only man had more respect for nature and for itself, we'd have a much greater shot at this so called life. |

In a heap
On the bathroom floor?
are you sure he hasn't already?
enjoyed this.
