Black Jack

by Charles E Minshall

I went to Las Vegas
To have a good time,
But ended up losing
My very last dime.

At a black jack table I sat down
And threw out a hundred dollar bill,
I told the dealer deal me twenty ones
Until I get my fill.

I don't think she understood
Exactly what I said,
For all night long she dealt me
Mostly twenty twos instead.

When I thought I had good cards
I would motion that I stand,
Then she would deal herself
A one better hand.

If I had a twenty one
Which was very rare indeed,
The dealer had one too
That was almost guaranteed.

I now know where they get the money
To build the buildings that they build,
From the gamblers like me
Who need to be better skilled.

I'll remember my trip
By another gambling game.
The one with the dice
An appropriate name.

Yes, I have helped to build and maintain many a riverboat, even a couple of cities (New York and Venice), not to speak of the racetracks. You hit the jackpot with this one, Chaz.

HA! Nicely reinforces why I outside of lottery tickets, have never gambled. A new favorite of mine of yours Charlie!

:) Nice Charlie :). This reminds me of my 16 year old brother who is starting to get so into gambling that he is organizing his own poker tournaments. LOL:) Good read.
