the words of a mad woman by Michele Schottelkorbthere was once a tiny star
and it was thought to travel far
not by boat or train or car
but by drinking at a bar
so rhyming poems are not your thing
cliché you say, the critics sing
but to my point these words shall bring
my deepest thoughts in simple ring
the voices, do they talk to you?
changing colours, morphing hue?
becoming what you want them to?
do you tell them what to do?
i have seen the edge of madness
breathless in pursuit of sadness
all my will destroyed by badness
what have you done with all my gladness?
“quiet now”, the angels say
tomorrow is a brand new day
cease the struggle, stop the fray
get down on your knees and pray
there is solace in the sky
teardrops never ask you why
unfold your wings and start to fly
break the dam, begin to cry
the tiny star found tolerance
amidst the pain, began to dance
one by one submit to trance
regret and sorrow met the lance
each soul in this war together
precious as a floating feather
good and bad times we shall weather a trillion hearts these words must tether.05/22/2004 Author's Note: humans are innately good… given the chance, and the choice… this is meant to be read aloud, to preserve it’s stress and flow... or, shouted from a rooftop, if possible and you feel like it…

Posted by Graeme Fielden on 05/24/04 at 09:52 PM A lyrical feat of positive energies Michele...You're right! It should be shouted from the rooftops! ;) |
Posted by Graeme Fielden on 05/24/04 at 09:59 PM that was meant to be "feast," not "feat"...doh me! ;) |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 05/25/04 at 01:57 AM Yes, the rhyming goes superbly well with the message, the poem reaching out to every human being in such a manner that it has to be taken seriously. |
Posted by David R Spellman on 05/25/04 at 03:02 AM This certainly does sing, at first with a bit of sadness but in the end you give us the hope that we will all help each other and pull together to pass through whatever travails come our way. A positive breath of air! |
Posted by Max Bouillet on 05/26/04 at 10:09 PM A spellbinding verse that covers the essence of the human spirit --and you're right, it really rolls off he tongue well when read out loud! Great read! |
Posted by JD Clay on 06/06/04 at 02:41 PM This wonderful uplifting verse reads like an affirmation. A fulfilling positive message that speaks the undeniable truth. I love the title but I won't buy into that notion for one minute.
