Seed of Grace

by Mary Ellen Smith

God knew which tree would bear Him
When first its seed did sow.
And yet he gently watered it
Allowing it to grow.

God knew that if the sun shone
The seedling would survive.
And yet He let the sun shine bright
Keeping it alive.

God knew that he could make a storm
Rumbling, fierce, dire.
And let lightning strike the tree
Consuming it in fire.

Yet harbored He the squirrel.
In its boughs the birds did nest
And many other little creatures
Shaded there were blessed.

He sent His only son to us
Salvations perfect plan.
And just as the tree grew strong and tall
His son grew to a man.

What love it took to give Him!
What love it took to see!
His only son beaten and bruised
Then hung on that very tree.

But death it could not hold Him!
Rejoice! We all can sing!
The same today as yesterday,
Risen is our King!

And all our sins He bore them
Right there He met our need.
And it was GodÂ’s amazing grace
That sprouted with that seed.

Amazing grace, this poignant poem, Mary Ellen. A postulation of parabolic proportion. Pe4ce...

Congratulations on POTD! I have tears in my eyes because God, in His love for us is ever faithful, even when we are not. You expressed it so beautifully. Thank you for the reminder that God through His Son, Jesus, sees us through all our trials and joys.
