My River and Me

by Thomas K. Hunt

I smell the river
Home is in the air
I see the river
I know I’m there

This river ran through me
It’s my turn to oblige
One within its beauty
This river so wide

Crystal springs flowing gentle
Whispers peace within my head
Sprinkle me among the crystals
Lay me down in the riverbed

Ashes to ashes
May the dust be blessed
As it turn to silt
In this final rest

Lay me down in my river
Let its life set me free
Flowing on forever
My river and me

I don't know where your river is, but it sounds awesome like mine (the Columbia River). I love the water, and I love the idea of my empty shell returning to it one day. Excellent imagery! I'm glad I found you.

'Flowing on forever My river and me' This is beautiful. This feeling of oneness , with your life, within, without.

This would be a really wonderful song...as it is a poem...

this is a soul and heartprobe piece of writing, Thomas, and like that traveler along its flanks, I am mesmered in its reflection.
