distance

by Ann Lauren

Distance graces forth our simple lives,
                    of shoving
               aside emotions and
dancing with wax lies on that same shore.
            Furious
         my acid eyes wince at
the span of space between you and me,
         so cruelly
      taunting all that bleeds and
         scattering gray matter across the
      broken glass
     coast. Your fingertips trace
light maps across my sea glass heart of
     soft green lines,
   and twisted blue detours
on paper skin now that you are gone.

a refreshing usage of language which add up to a bevy of powerful images.

Congrats on POTD! I like everything from the placement and use of the word "shoving", "wax lies", "acid eyes", that whole "scattering gray matter" sentence. I don't know why I'm picking out separate words when each word in this seems perfectly placed. Thank you.
