Face to Face: 1

by Ashok Sharda

I resolve

I resolve

To voice my protest

Some unseen hands from nowhere

Shut my mouth.

I am dumbstruck

They are my hands.

I read a quote, only today, that one sign of a great person is their self-discipline.

LOL! The paralysis of selfcontradictions. I am afraid humankind is plagued with it! Very clever commentary on the human condition.

Courage often melts like ice on a fire when coonfronted with reality. Nice thoughtful words. --bf

Wit and wisdom from the far east. Adds new meaning to "we're often our own worst enemies."

of course in a fated world, we can ne'er be certain they are our hands and if not, whose?

Face to Face we're shocked by our own intentions. Very wise. Stated so simply, yet leaves you with a BANG! I love your style Ashok, you are a thought provoking poet

This is a great poem. I'd have maybe described the feeling of hands stifling a mouth but the way in which you've described this works well. Perhaps, "I am struck dumb/ by my hands". Still, I suppose it is better in some situations to hold your tongue. I look forward to reading more of your poetry.
