The Last Temptation of Aaron by Kristine BrieseAbove all, she is faithful
to the only one worthy of her.
Despite the changes in
the texture of her skin
when he comes near,
despite the changes in
the tone of her voice
when he can hear,
despite the changes in
the clouding of her mind
when his is clear.
Above all, she is faithful
to the only one worthy of her.
Though her poetry can
redefine heaven
to deify him,
though her camera can
rebuild reality
to glorify him,
though her desire can
realign values
to mortify him.
Above all, she is faithful
to the only one worthy of her.
Which proves that she is
stronger than us all. 12/11/2003 Author's Note: Boy, oh, boy. My muse has been dead for weeks; I had to write this myself. I apologize.
