A beautiful girl, by Audrey, a four year old by Michele SchottelkorbHope of the spirit
A beautiful girl
Beautiful castle
Continues to twirl
The beautiful girl
With all of her might
Tries her best
To share her light
December 6, 200312/06/2003 Author's Note: i was reading "Aelan :: exposed;" by Jolie Jordan... my daughter, Audrey, was staring at the picture that accompanies this excellent poem... all of the sudden, she started prattling off a rhyme, in her quiet little voice... i grabbed a pen and paper, and these two stanzas are the words i caught... yes, i will be so bold as to say i believe my child is brilliant... her poetry rings more true and precious than my own...

Posted by Jolie Jordan on 12/07/03 at 06:23 AM Hey.. she's a better poet than me! ;) In all seriousness, its so lovely, especially the form! the flow of the words are so unforced, and innocent. (and to think she's only four..) well, you know what they say.. like mother, like daughter. |
Posted by H.M Stevens on 12/08/03 at 09:51 AM I think this captures "something" well Michele...mind jumping |
Posted by Jeanne Marie Hoffman on 12/08/03 at 01:11 PM That's so cute! One of my little nieces is a poet as well, always randomly saying rhymes. Its surprising what little children say when people take the time to listen :) |
Posted by Lori Johnson on 12/08/03 at 07:30 PM Well, so what? *sarcastically* My four year old can say her alphabet backwards! TOP THAT! LOL
Seriously, this is amazing. Simply knowing which words sound alike is great for a 4 year old, but to put them together so prettily....WOW. You have every right to be proud! :)
