A beautiful girl, by Audrey, a four year old

by Michele Schottelkorb

Hope of the spirit

A beautiful girl

Beautiful castle

Continues to twirl

The beautiful girl

With all of her might

Tries her best

To share her light

Author's Note: i was reading "Aelan :: exposed;" by Jolie Jordan... my daughter, Audrey, was staring at the picture that accompanies this excellent poem... all of the sudden, she started prattling off a rhyme, in her quiet little voice... i grabbed a pen and paper, and these two stanzas are the words i caught... yes, i will be so bold as to say i believe my child is brilliant... her poetry rings more true and precious than my own...

Hey.. she's a better poet than me! ;) In all seriousness, its so lovely, especially the form! the flow of the words are so unforced, and innocent. (and to think she's only four..) well, you know what they say.. like mother, like daughter.

That's so cute! One of my little nieces is a poet as well, always randomly saying rhymes. Its surprising what little children say when people take the time to listen :)

Well, so what? *sarcastically* My four year old can say her alphabet backwards! TOP THAT! LOL Seriously, this is amazing. Simply knowing which words sound alike is great for a 4 year old, but to put them together so prettily....WOW. You have every right to be proud! :)

Beautiful rhyme that sings of mythic and fantastic images. Great verse that warms the heart.

Simply astounding Michele! A poetic prodigy to be sure.
