Conservation

by Charles E Minshall

We try to save energy
As much as we can,
But some that we save
Is not due to plan.

I write a lot of poems
That keep us warm,
When they burn in the fireplace
After they're born.

*soft smile* hehe, if I had a fireplace, that's where a lot of mine would end up also...although I do recycle!

This is funny and sad all at the same time...

My secret to recycling? Use both sides of the page, and make sure the ink doesn't emit noxious fumes! =) Maybe it'll it cold enough this winter I can kindle a roaring blaze with my dead musings.

LOL! Great selfdeprecating humor! Fun read!

Yup, methinks the fireplaces of the world would have plenty of fuel with our despised poems, although this witty bit of words sure doesn't need to go. :)

Underneath your humor is a humility I admire. I fear that all too many of mine have ended up here instead of the fireplace. Thanks for giving me some perspective, Chaz.

No! Don't burn them! Ah!

You know how an artist/writer is always their own worst critic? Well, honey, just because you don't like it doesn't mean someone else won't!

And there's a lot to be said for 2nd drafts. ;)
