Softly With A Kiss by Kate DemereeClose the door softly With a kiss before you go On aching Wanting Needs Many nights Will know
Off into tomorrow Tired aching Heart
Guttering candles With tiny flames Burning in the windows With frost on Their frames
You do not build Your dream on me I can not be there No robes Of forever Will I wear
Yesterdays songs Loud in my ears Tomorrows sweet promise Lies Beyond a veil Of tears
So close the door Softly Gently With a kiss What we do not know We can never missÂ… 11/05/2003 Posted on 11/06/2003 Copyright © 2024 Kate Demeree

Posted by Anne Engelen on 11/10/03 at 04:54 PM Somehow a deeper pain than willing to admit to is pictured here in a softer light. Like keeping a certain distance to prevent from feeling its true depth. Very touching writing! |
Posted by Glenn Currier on 11/13/03 at 03:23 AM Now I know what the bard meant when he said "Parting is such sweet sorrow." Your poem flickers with the love and wisdom of a sojourner soul. |
