What a searing indictment of organized religion. "Sweet 'n' LO" is right on! |
Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 08/23/03 at 01:00 AM While the descripion may be a little extraBiblical it certainly is in keeping with the antiChrist's intent--to deceive! St. John indicated there are many antichrists, even were in his day. Of course, there is the ultimate AntiChrist who evidently is yet to be revealed.
A very thought provoking poem. Not for the meek and mild in faith! |
Posted by Graeme Fielden on 08/23/03 at 03:29 PM Powerful poetry Max...filled with angst and symbolic imagery...excellent work - one of your best! |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 08/23/03 at 04:03 PM As Quentin said, thought provoking Max. Certainly one way of looking at it. |
Posted by Kristine Briese on 08/23/03 at 04:22 PM Powerful, striking imagery, Max. Truly pulls the reader along. |
Posted by Anne Engelen on 08/23/03 at 07:37 PM thought provoking is the least one can say...surely a great read!! |
Posted by Don Coffman on 08/24/03 at 07:05 AM There's a fine line between those that really preach the word and those that preach their own word. Although I wouldn't go as far as to call all of them anti-Christ, you remind us that there are far too many out there who are unfortunately ignorant about what it all really means. A especally provocative poem, to be pondered deeply. |
Posted by Michele Schottelkorb on 08/24/03 at 08:42 AM this is so raw and so intriguing... your poetry is musick to many souls here... excellent imagery... blessings... |

Posted by Rachelle Howe on 08/26/03 at 07:13 PM pardon me for cursing, but... holy fxck. this.. is.. inCREDIBle. it reminds me of a work of mine called, "even the whores..." i wrote it awhile back for exactly this purpose. it is amazing what the misinformed and unenlightened minds can come up with. and even more amazing what the rebuttle can be.

Posted by Amanda J Cobb on 08/26/03 at 08:28 PM This is absolutely beautiful and wonderfully written. I can't think of a single thing wrong with it. I especially like the 1st stanza. And I do not think you are attacking the religion, I think you are criticizing the deception of religion. Again, well-done. |
Posted by David R Spellman on 08/27/03 at 11:39 AM Indeed the deception of many who twist the truth to their own means is one of the most potent tools of any "antichrist." You capture that whole process very well in this with some very evocative and thought provoking imagery and phrasings. Well done Max. |
