Savage Parade

by Kate Demeree

Tangled in damp sheets
Thoughts creep spider-like
Weaving their webs
In dark corners
Mandibles of doubt
Pierce fragile skin
Outer layers of hopes
Dreams that sweltering heat
And silence easily defeat
Leaving silk wrapped
Empty husks hanging
Tangled, trapped,
Savage parades

This is brilliant Kate - the emotion so raw, it caught in my throat as i read it... Thanks for sharing :)

Sure can relate to this one Kate. Good use of spider related imagery/metaphors to illuminate the darkness.

Whoa! Intense, dark, intimate, very close to the bone, Kate. Powerful poem!

who would not pause and marvel at this bubbling in their path, and spidery, tangent the rivulets streaming to twinkle toes or saturate the accompaniment, their entirety?

Didn't do much for my arachnaphobia... great work though... pardon me, I gotta go get some insecticide.
