destination/direction

by Andrew S Adams

i want you to know that through all of this,
there is still a thought of love, represented
in a most cruel gesture of humanity;
left to die by a friend leaving tomorrow
but gone by yesterday.
and what can i say about a thought of breathing
a conscious attempt to remain subconscious.
letting it slip away means that this will
all disolve and evaporate by the time i exhale
and open my eyes.
but a better cruelty resides in all of this;
generic thoughts and pains shared by the masses,
somehow unique and odd-shaped as any true emotion.
this is what it feels like;

just as you and i are different,
no day could be more the same.
a lost scream throughout the madness;
and a day awaiting true redemption.

awaiting a destination
and direction.

Catchy and evocative construction Andrew. I especially like this line: a conscious attempt to remain subconscious.
