Somewhere Between Love and Rice Krispies

by Britt Zimmerman

I am not sure how to begin
or how to describe
this moment of intensity
this
change my world with the meeting of two souls
Your birthday is coming
and I can’t stop thinking that all I want to give you
is everything that I am
every part of my body
my soul
my heart
I wonder if I would change
if it would change me
to give over such things
completely rendering myself
my life
to you
would I lose who I am
or would I become one with
a destined lover
gain a third but unnecessarily necessary limb
an opposable thumb
so to speak
Your an image of light
a moment at dusk
when all fades orange and red and violet
a feeling inside that creates vibrancies
and clarities
So sharp the sight
that it cuts through
to other worlds
other times
transcending space
melding us into one another
like cosmic milky ways
and distant galaxies
So big, its overwhelming
and frightening
Is such love possible?
and I am not quite sure how to end
for I feel that every day
I start again
like when the sun
kisses the sky a good morning
and my bowl of cereal
winks at me
because its you
that makes me feel this sweet

sweet love musing over morning breakfast... leads you right into the greatest question about love (do you lose yourself to merge with another?) my answer is no- you are the best of your Self, as is the Other, when you meet for true merging and love (anything else is just a stepping stone on the path). great introspective poem :)

Snap, crackle, and poetry. This is an effervescent breath of fresh air, Britt. Magnificently scripted with a warm and tender message. In one word...SWEET! Peace...
