Oh, How I Love Di.ck.ens, My Sweet Charlie Di.ck.ens!

by Alex Smyth

There once was a man named C. $#%@ens.
With Pathetic a bone he would pickens.
They censored his name
Erased all his fame
Now he's duking for Sallie to lickens!

*In leaving a comment that referred to Charles D.i.c.k.ens, the Pathetic filter
scrambled the first four letters of one of the grandest names in literature!
We all thought that was a hoot, and agreed that old D.i.c.k.ens himself would have
loved the irony of it. No ill will to our wonderful admins and this good site that provides us
with our safe environment. Any references here are purely tounge in cheek!
(And REALLY, who with any sense of humor at all could
resist splaying that title out there for all the world to see? Too, too funny! I'll remove if Sallie scolds:)

Good limerick, Alex. The fact that some people are so over-sensitive has ruined it for everybody and probably has the satin inside ol' Charles' coffin all stirred up and drenched with tears of laughter. Much like the censored comment you inadvertently left for me. What fun! Peace...

Funny, satirical. Don't know about the controversy. Administrators have a tough row to hoe!

Oh, I don't think Sallie will scold. It is just too funny!

Hehe... this is very amusing - I think Sallie will be a good sport about it, too. It is rather silly the way the language filter works. I had a similar experience posting a poem with "Emily $#%@inson" in the title (you'd asked me about that - it's in my "Published and Cited Works" folder) - and don't even try to discuss shitake mushrooms! d:-)

Risky indeed, with our ever watchful den mother Sallie, though I have to say after conversing with her on the phone, she has a heart of gold, with the best of intentions, and glad she's on staff here. As for $#%@ens, and the other folks here at Pathetic, contrary to rumors in the media, nice to see that writers do have a sense of humor.

those who with pretense at morality, would inhibit the creative surge lack for that inkling themselves. Joshua come blow your horn.

heehee, it really is such a funny scramble, especially for a writing website :-D

Thank you for saying what a lot of us have felt..that the Purity police here have really gone overboard when they can edit out names like Charles $#%@ens and Emily Dickenson..and God help the Poet who wants to have some poetic fun with Cock Robin, huh?

Very well put. Thanks for sharing.
