Spectators can go now and sleep. by Ashok ShardaSpectators can go now and sleep.
Responding to a knock
Woke up a thought
Inhabiting one of the umpteen green rooms
Disguised as me
Within
The thought
Energized by the knock
Had an association with another thought
Inhabiting one of the umpteen green rooms
Disguised as me
Within
This associated thought
Energized by the knock
Of the thought responding to the knock
Woke up
Disguised as me
Within
And said SLEEP
I went to sleep
With all the thoughts
Inhabiting many of the umpteen green rooms
Within
The stage is empty
And its free for all, now
Spectators too can go and sleep
And I shall dream.
05/28/2003 Author's Note: The whole mechanism of the conflict, I went through, when I woke up one morning. To sleep or not to sleep. To be or not to be. This is the battle I fight every time when I am ALIVE. Its a different thing that I surrender most of the time. But believe me, I keep on pondering on the new war strategies, even when I am surrendering. Hahaha

Posted by Alex Smyth on 05/28/03 at 03:27 AM War Stratagies! Most excellently said! The domino effect of the senses coming awake is TOO TOO funny~ I love the way you just "hit the mental snooze" and turn them all off! Sleepy minds think alike...:O) |
Posted by Alastre Zidler on 05/28/03 at 05:01 PM You use words in ways I've never seen them used before. The conflict of sleep - many ways to interpret this poem and the meanings within. An ingenius gem of writing, Ashok! |

Posted by Agnes Eva on 05/28/03 at 05:38 PM ah, yes, every morning wanting to curl back up in the corner of one of those rooms (especially if filled with dreamscapes). i like how you go out of mind towards the spectators' point of view (or is it still in mind- the Watchers within, the self observing the self- is that what you are allowing to sleep while you dream?) |
Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 05/29/03 at 01:44 PM Unique perspective on sleep and waking and all those rooms of the "self". Thought provoking with a sense of humor. |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 05/29/03 at 04:51 PM A fun poem to contemplate and no doubt to write. :oD |
Posted by Jeanne Marie Hoffman on 05/31/03 at 08:38 AM I'm an insomniac so I do not quite have as much time to sleep as other people do. Your poem makes me jealous of the ability to just fall back asleep ;) (It is 4:30am my time right now, still wide awake) |
Posted by Michele Schottelkorb on 10/02/03 at 12:31 PM this is brilliant... again, your form astounds me... it has just the right flavor in your poems to make ecverything flow the way it needs to... the topic in this poem is conveyed well and is intriguing subject matter... blessings :) |
