Eventide by Jane E PearceSecure the latch, and light the lamps,
the gentle hours have come
to soothe the ache of worry's wounds,
and pour sweet dreams for some.
Loosen the vest, let down your hair,
for day now visits next door,
she has taken her frets and care,
and swept clean the floor.
In her place, night comes to call
with his soporific charms,
he wanders through rooms and hall,
to find me in your arms.
Secure the latch and light the lamps,
the gentle hours have come
that allow two hearts to entwine,
and make a house a home.
