split perspective (self-annoyance)* by Rhyana Fisheri hear her crying
she's always crying
but i ignore her
the same way the rest of us do
she knows i think she's a nuisance
that i wish she would just go away
or stop sniveling and grow up
the way the rest of us had to
she accepts our blame
in the same manner as the shame
with the same slow, steady, infuriating tears
drowning her entire existance
i wonder sometimes why she stays there
hiding in the closet of our mind
one of us ought to throw her out
but we're afraid of the ruckus she'd raise if we tried. 05/06/2003 Author's Note: split perspective sound file 560kb mp3
could be marginally better read, but then again if i don't stop now and just do it i'll talk myself out of putting it up.

Posted by Ginette T Belle on 05/06/03 at 04:33 PM this a great poem...something everyone can relate to...the last line seems okay to me...if you're intent on changing it you might want to say "but we're still afraid of her" to make it a little more powerful...but with or without the change its great! |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 05/07/03 at 12:48 AM I believe this piece (as you've eluded to) aptly speaks for all of us, a (weaker?) part of us that we'd all like to eject. There again, in my own case, it's this side that propels my stronger side to strive for perfection, and achieve if only in small steps. Thanks for the eloquent reminder. |
Posted by Traci Mabats on 05/07/03 at 02:03 AM I loved the "one of us" part. |
Posted by Rommel Cruz on 05/07/03 at 04:38 AM don't we all want to get rid of that "weaker" part of us. |
Posted by Ashok Sharda on 05/07/03 at 04:52 PM Face to face with one of your selves. A self created by certain impression and surviving drawing energies from the associations. This self can never be thrown out. The only course is to WIN the associations. The only way is to get into conflict with this self with a predetermined decision as to who would be the WINNER. Obviously the INTENDING SELF. Well, these moments of observation and conflicts are rare and self evolving. |
