No Regrets

by Melissa Arel

I drank in the solitaire of meager fortunes
While my wicked mind spoke of beautiful things
The power of searing persuasion roared like
A shimmering tempest; I searched for
New bones to break as I fell by the wayside

The moon was my skipping stone and the sky,
A river of endless frailties; my wings tattered
But these dreams were wistful and free-spirited
Like the child I once was, so many years ago

Singing what couldn’t be unsung, I wasted my
Tears on crooked notions as I waited patiently
For redemption to reconcile me by day and night

My unbroken heart was broken, reverent on this
Path, I found the simplicity of faith with no regrets

I am not ashamed, for I have been made stronger

I will say what I said yesterday: this poem speaks of autobiography that has not only made you stronger, but richer, more well-rounded and more poetic, with an eye few other poets ever get to see with...excellent, Mel

Your choice of words and phrasings in this is marvelous and the trip of life you take us through is an outstanding look into many of our own journeys. Excellent!

Inspiring faith, images challenging, reminds me of St. Paul's words to the effect that out of weakness comes strength.
