Sanctuary

by Melissa Arel

I used to be scared of being alone
Then loneliness became my only friend.
Self-pity was my habitual sanctuary
And I was a faithful disciple.
Life became tolerant, and unwillingly so
While the peace of breath was far and few between.
But then you came along, smiled
Alas! Love followed.
I have partook of this graciously
Believing all the more in Fate's hand.

A Sanctuary, once posted, is brought back...and it is still a place and poem of warmth and safety to the wandering reader's eye...

Short and sweet. Text aptly reflects title in more ways than one.

Accepting helplessness requires courage. And once one accepts this helplessness one is no more helpless. Nicely said.
