A Night In Alabama

by Charles J Hannan

I embark on journeys
That take me to the harvest moon
Floating in front of me
Bright...for all to see
Shining off water light
Trickling down
Waves of wonderland shadows
Melting onto trees overhang
And fireflies dancing on invisible strings
Southern nights dripping with sweat
Running to capture a gentle breeze
And listening to the crickets sing
With tiny violins
Taking all this in with one deep breath
Exhaling...and giving back
For Mother Nature to give again

I especially love the last three lines! Those southern nights sound marvelous.

YIPEE! YEAAAAA!!!! I can't tell you how it thrills my soul to see fellow Alabamians proud of where they're from writing poetry that might possibly open the minds of others who think we're all in-bred! So glad to meet you, Charles....the title grabbed me, of course. Funny, those small worlds, huh? I'm just a hop, skip, & a jump from ya! LOL Good stuff.
