Dust to Dust

by Thomas K. Hunt

On this path way of my life
I remember each stepping stone
Some have been solid
Others crumbled like old bones

Still I'm careful where I walk
I look left and to the right
I glance north and south
I turn the lights on at night

I've built my own temple
With the tools of my mind
Is the foundation strong enough?
Will it last for all time?

Moving forward with each day
Getting closer to the end
Hoping to embrace it
Like a long lost friend

Still questions are unanswered
It all comes down to trust
Is it truly ashes to ashes?
Is it really dust to dust?

Good questions. Ones we all seek the answers to, but only in the end will we know. A well written thought-provoking piece.

I've built my own temple With the tools of my mind Is the foundation strong enough? Will it last for all time? Whoo... good question and one I've wondered about... how much have I realized God's Will in the building, and how much was mine? Very thought provoking.

I really like this pondering piece; it's got a wonderful rhythm and a certain hopefulness about it.

I also like that third stanza and wonder about temples I have built. This is thought provoking. Thank you.
