the graveyards of their infinity

by Betania Tesch

The endlessness of this
was a fallacy
in that it was
planted in rotten soil
but managed to take over
and create something
ravenous and conquering--
which means nothing
unless you, too, are
planted in that same soil
and the rot coming off
your bones because
then you understand
the meaning of endlessness
is a traumatic lie
told by first-time mothers
and widowers
whose bodies have yet to touch
the rotten soil of reality,
the graveyards of their infinity.
Our finite bodies pollute the ground.
Our death triumphs over all.

This sounds like graveyard of the infinity and I am wondering as to the use of past tense and earmarking the infinity as to 'theirs'. Yes, the concept as we ( the crowd) understands without understanding, have to be 'planted in the same soil'. But as you say, its the other way round too. Realities are after all nothing but a perception emerging from different layers of awareness. Every time this proves to be nothing but deception. This is reality. And the most not so subjective truth from ourpoint of view is DEATH, which 'triumphs over all'. Seems to have been SEEN and written in a very 'matter of factly' mood.

Oh how we rot in our finitude and fool ourselves about the horror our darkness can bring. Maybe when we die a little death for fallen ones, we preserve the life in others. You probe the mysteries and the minuteness of being human, Bethany.

Much richness amid this dark poetic soil. One of the best titles I've come across in a long time Bethany.

this is like a luscious haunting run on sentence that whips you back to reality with it's finality of death... brilliant writing... blessings...

'because then you understand
the meaning of endlessness
is a traumatic lie
told by first-time mothers
and widowers...'

that's awesome. a lie told by such specific entities.
