venus

by Graeme Fielden

there is a love that i feel for you.
it is among the roses and the stars.
grounded within terra's bounds,
yet shining all above
a jewel box in the sky.
a shining light to travellers
!it's me!
rooted to mother's earth

i met you there...
seated on a moonbeam in the sky
bethroned within the beauty of the stars
led me helpless through
the dungeons of hell's earth.

you the alpha, my omega
me the helpless traveller
explorant to the bounds
escapent to all.

forgetful of those not worthy my memory
that flame in the dark
your zealot voice screaming
in me my deafness
my blinded eyes gleaming
threw helpless my fear
awaiting your judgment

(as the tender fear rising
sung sweetly my soul fast
to rock me to sleep...
my dreams of you
and only of you...)

no you without my universe
you the alpha
the sun rises with your word
forgets in your setting
omega of my heart.

no vision without you
i am nothing without your light
a blindman - i refuse to see.
for without you
i would scourge mine eyes
willful to forget the memories of the past
there is nothing without the sanctity of your soul.

can't forget the confusion,
i remember all but...

lest you sit there in angels light
my hope in death we shall meet
continue the love

i felt for you
i feel for you
i'll die for you.

yet your love for me is nothing
or so the way i feel it

i the shakespearean tragedy
die in hope of heaven's justice

(eulogy)
though i pray your light shines always
and leads you right into the night
and so we meet again
into the stars sweet venus...

...a sweetly painful dedication. Beautifully done. :)

Ohhh I love romantic poems like this! Such epic imagery! The eulogy is a nice tragic twist. Just wonderful.

Astronomical poetry, Graeme. This one resonates with true conviction. Good stuff, my man. Peace...

The life of your protagonists don't seem to last long... stunning visuals and sweeping emotion fill the verse to the brim with a sense of undying (or, in this case, dying) love. Great read, brother Graeme.
