There were thoughts and thoughts

by Ashok Sharda

There were thoughts and thoughts

There were I’s and I’s

But none could sustain for

More than a while

Though they went on asserting

I am I

There were thoughts and thoughts

There were I’s and I’s

Pretending, comparing, complaining and fighting

But none ever had a glimpse

That they were naught

In the absence of

An ‘observing’ I

There were thoughts and thoughts

There were I’s and I’s

But none came forward to ascertain

If they were ‘alive’

After a while.

There were thoughts and thoughts

There were I’s and I’s

But none of the multitude

Were really

A real ‘I’

For want of an

INTENDING I.

There is a lot of thought behind this piece. A lot of behind the scenes statements going on. Good depth and thought provoking. No disrespect intended, but I read it five times through, and the more you read it the faster you can read it, it almost reads like Dr. Seuss, it has that quality to it.

This amazing piece seems to fold into itself, much like a figure eight. An infinate cycle and quite insightful actually. Peace...

And just what do you think you're doing, making me read and re-read this when I should be drinking coffee and giggling?! Well, I think many of us are in search of the observing I, but it's a difficult place to reach. One day at a time.... (love)

This is one of your best, my friend. The repetition is captivating and focus on the vibrating thinking mind and its I... and in the end you raise my inner eye to that INTENDING I. Marvelous work, Ashok.

Wow, I really like this. There is a lot of thought behind it. I definately need to reread it at another time.

great poem! -i think i see what you mean. if we just passively allow all thoughts to roam, and selves to manifest, then we aren't truly in sync with living. this is how you wake up when you're 80 and say 'where has my life gone?'. so the intention behind all the thoughts and core personality, and attention to the intention of course, are what facilitates being 'alive'. (suggestion; perhaps changing "Were really / a real 'I'" to "Were truly / a real 'I'" to avoid repetition??)

'I' SEE what you are saying... the focus on 'I' is tremendous... for without 'I' there would be no you or he or she or I... thought provoking... blessings...
