They Call Her An Angel

by Melissa Arel

They call her an angel -

Her porcelain skin, fairer than the crescent moon
Her sunshine curls, brighter than the burning sun

Eyes of irridescent liquid blue clouds tell a thousand stories

Her cherry cheeks, softer than rose petals
Her infectous smile, sweeter than honeycomb

She sleeps among a pile of woven blankets
with only her small creamy legs showing
Drowning in her comfort, her lip quivers
as she dreams of starry fairies and teddy bears

Her wings and halo hang quiely off her bedpost
as the night fireflies keep watch outside her window

They call her an angel
I call her my baby sister, Gabrielle

Wonderful tribute Melissa! An angel I'm sure we all can relate to in our own lives.
