Petit Minou

by Melissa Arel

Hearing my footsteps coming,
The car purs like a petit minou
As I rub it behind the ears by revving the engine.

Warming to the touch of my fingers
It inches forward for more
So I stroke it lightly, gently
Until its end lifts with pleasure.

Its eyes of irridescent yellow glows
as I turn the headlights on, shining bright.
The antenna sways side to side with every turn
Like the guiding tail of a pussycat.

Although I sometimes forget to feed it
This pet will always let me in its heart
As long as I have the right key – love.

Author's Note: *Petit minou is French slang for little cat/kitten (well, its what my family uses!)

That picture looks like our little dainty cat named Kalypso. Your poem describes her very well!

As many do, really like how you give your combination of rubber, steel and wires, personality. Witty, imaginative poem Melissa.

Would you say your car is the Cat's Meow? :) A lively comparison cat and car (only one letter different actually). Now does that get you far? Cute and clever!

very delightful metaphor for kitty/car, the words themselves progressing like little paw steps
