Silent Echo

by David R Spellman

Words may sometimes leak
from the faucet of my heart,
from the deepest part of the well
that drips with the ink of emotion,
spills feelings from the tap of keys
splashing into the reflecting pool,
resounding in expanding ripples
which reverberate like silent echoes
that lap upon receptive shores or
crash upon weathered breakers.

They flow from the depths of our being,
the cistern of thought stirred to speak,
adding to the lake of human experience,
filling the reservoir of collective soul,
filtered through many layered sentiments
seeping into sweet murmuring streams
cascading into clear and nurturing springs
fountains gushing forth with hope and truth.
Awash, we become renewed and refreshed.

Outstanding use of analogy! Some quite subtle. This is a poem to be read and meditated upon. Like a diamond it has many facets.

How one raindrop can become a river... David, this is a wonderful sentiment.

WOW! Such profundity. I'd love to include this poem as the opening number to my manuscript, Ripples. With full credit and copyright given to you of course.

I love the concept of a silent echo that nourishes the soul... great imagery --especially with the cistern deep within. Very well articulated and spiritually stirring.
