beauty from ashes by Melissa Arel
as i'm looking behind
to the trodden path,
the one well worn,
all i had and everything i held
comes down to a single moment -
a twinkle in a little girl's eye.
a daisy picked in spring
given to father in hopes of love.
a sigh from a sleeping babe,
a bundle of dandies held tight
and cherished in innocence.
a canvas of new birth
re-awakening a masterpiece
as tears fall like dew.
as i'm looking ahead
to the broken path,
the one less traveled,
all i have and everything i hold
comes down to a single moment -
a twinkle in a lover's eye.
a sterling rose picked in summer
each petal pulled in hopes of love.
waiting for a beautiful beginning,
speaking its famous last words,
these travels render me speechless
as this journey paints a beautiful ending;
tied with strings
a memoir of parchment and passion.
i close my eyes and breathe.
