Birth of a religion by Ashok Sharda
Religion is the WILL TO POWER
Of the unconscious
One mans assertion
Against the whole bunch of helpless creatures
Sub-consciously waiting for a superman to emerge
And play the role of a savior.
A savior has arrived
And he commands annihilation of the
Dissenters-men, women, children
A new religion is born
Which shall grow on the shambles.
We shall learn to live with it. 02/10/2003 Author's Note: This poem was written long ago, in a different context, despite the fact that I do my best to generalize all my problems and perceptions to such an extent that they sometimes succeed in crossing the boundaries of the space and time. While reading bonnies journal entries, her crusade against the inevitable war, owing to the law of associations, I remembered having written this poem. And also that this fits quite well into the present context. It took me almost ten minutes to locate this poem. I hope this proves to be worthy of those precious little ten minutes. In any case, Bonnie owes me these ten minutes. Dont you Bonnie?

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 02/11/03 at 02:58 AM Although animal rights activists won't allow us to sacrifice a dog, sacred cow, or any beast for that matter now...sadly only ourselves. |

Posted by Max Bouillet on 07/09/03 at 05:18 PM The acceptance of wrong in the face of power whether it is associated with religion or not is something of a paradox.... for by uniting against the wrong have we not became that which we were fighting? |

Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 10/23/03 at 01:02 AM Are you really speaking of religion here? Or of political power? My perception of religion, as you well know is quite different. Some religions may be started as a reach for power to control and destroy per se, but not all, NOT ALL. |
Posted by Glenn Currier on 12/10/03 at 04:04 AM Ah, what a pity it is that we use religion to bind us to the past and to our lust for control... or perhaps I should say... ABuse religion... Profound poem VERY appropriate for these times. I really like this one, my friend. |
