Other People by Cathlyn CartierPeople say that you're too old, that I should find someone closer to my age...
I never listened to what other people said.
People think that I can do "better", if I would only go out and socialize more...
I never really cared what other people thought.
I know that you are always there when I need you... even though others can't be found.
You have said that you will always be my friend, and your actions speak more clearly than a dictionary of words...
I think that is what really matters most.
Who needs "other people" when I have found such a. friend as you? 02/05/2003 Posted on 02/06/2003 Copyright © 2024 Cathlyn Cartier

Posted by Charles E Minshall on 02/06/03 at 12:27 AM Good poem Cathlyn. It is the quality of the
friendship that counts. Of course I say that because I am an old duffer....Charlie |

Posted by Ashok Sharda on 02/07/03 at 02:32 PM Well, when 'others' walk into the periphery of 'I', they are part of 'my'.My friend, my brother, my mother, obviously closer than any 'other'.They are part of our inner world. |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 02/09/03 at 01:38 AM Excellent wake up call Carthlyn. Why should age make a different when a pair are compatable in every other way. |
Posted by JD Clay on 02/23/03 at 04:29 PM Your wonderful verse is a vision of oneness, with or without popular opinion. I am reminded that soulmates know no age. Good stuff, Cathlyn.
Peace... |

Posted by Max Bouillet on 08/29/03 at 03:44 PM Touching poem that questions cultural pressures. Who sets the norms anyway? In my opinion, they haven't been doing a very good job. Great verse that really makes one think. |
