Baby DMZ (a sonnet)

by Gavin M Roy

Parent, baby, parent
It’s a baby DMZ
Maybe to you it’s not apparent
But it’s the only way to sleep

She patrols the inside
So she can make sure
That it’s not our backside
Which we’re offering to her

She’ll be Kicking and prodding
With little baby feet and arms
So she can snuggle up to a body
Quietly with her little baby charms

If she doesn’t get her way
And can’t come between us
She’ll wake us right away
And make sure she's still boss

So the bed is now balanced with baby in the middle
But we’re anxious to have it back, if not a lot, then just a little.

Author's Note: Someone said something about Eden fueling my muse... I guess they were correct :) Oh and in case you weren't up on modern day warfare lingo DMZ is a De-militarized Zone.

LOL! You humorously give the "trials and tribulations" of parents of an infant! Universal in application I think. That is why parenting is for the young! ;)

Yes, thats baby DMZone. In many ways. From so many angles. This poem is the out come of the effect of the impressions, the baby DMZone seems to have caused.

Cute, well illustrated, but with a serious side also. Nice work Gavin.

Awww, very snuggy sonnet. I will take your sonnet as a guideline to write one of my own some day.
