Snowflake

by Cymbre Dolphay

snow collecting gently on the ground
turning the world outside
into a white oblivion
swirling silver as it falls
the coldness of the air
making it shimmer brightly

my breath on the window
clouding the glass
with its warmth
beyond me the world is so desolate
so completely held by the cold

a hand graces my shoulder
and a pair of lips my cheek

"Beloved, what about the snow
keeps you so entranced
and so far from my arms?"

"I want to be the winter
I long to be so wholly pure."

his kiss is gentle and sage

"You are not meant to be frozen."

"I know."
