Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 01/20/03 at 02:13 PM Quite the intelligent analogy, comparing a faultering marriage to the drip drip drip of Chinese Water Torture. Never thought of it that way, but quite accurate. |
Posted by Ken Harnisch on 01/30/03 at 09:39 PM I can only concur with all that has been said before.... |
Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 03/11/03 at 02:30 PM This is so remarkably poignant Anne, and oh so extremely wistful. |
Posted by Jeanne Marie Hoffman on 07/12/03 at 06:54 AM Wow, I like the way it twists around. How the water image could be good, but also bad. I like this one a lot |
Posted by Bruce W Niedt on 11/04/03 at 05:52 PM I, too, liked the way this turned the water metaphor from something loving and caressing to something painful and sinister. Inspired work. And congrats on the Member Spotlight! d:-) |
Posted by Siri Lipscomb on 11/10/03 at 07:39 AM We only really grow through pain - may your torture pour out through your fingers. This is beautiful. Isn't angst a bitch? Liked the highlight article about you... ~ S |
Posted by Kate Demeree on 11/10/03 at 05:42 PM Congrats on being featured writer... I love this poem it is full of heart and thought... a working through that is very hard won.... |
Posted by Rula Shin on 02/23/04 at 09:31 PM Oh I just got married 5 months ago...now I'm trembling a bit...reminds me a little of the Pina Colada song "me and my old lady...like a worn out record of a favorite song" :-) Of course your analogy is much more brilliant and oh how I could feel that slow "soft" killing of the spirit...the immense hole this "dripping drop...on the same spot" is causing...Amazing poem! Beautiful and sublte rhyme. |
Posted by Kara Hayostek on 03/26/04 at 05:05 AM Well expressed poem on a failed marriage, I see where the water metaphor for atlantis came from. |
