A Thousand Wishes

by Melissa Arel

I could write a thousand poems, and you could read the lines
On a thousand hills, uttering the thoughts I've materialized on paper
And I could say a thousand sentences, and you could listen to me
Cry on a thousand nights, knowing my feelings for you were true

We could make love in a thousand fields of green
With a thousand stars shimmering above, watching us surrender
And there would be a thousand reasons for us not to be,
But a thousand more to quiet those fears echoing in our minds

I could whisper a thousand sweet-nothings in your ear
And you could answer those longings in a thousand different ways
While a thousand prayers resound in ever-changing winds
As a thousand moons light the path of hope for two lovers

We could speak a thousand honest words to each other
And spend a thousand more lifetimes waiting for fate
To grant a thousand wishes, and count all our dreams . . .
Or we could stop thinking of a thousand what-could-be's

- and just be.

and if things were allowed to "just be", then the beauty of a thousand poems yet to be born would be lost on the world....superb structure...but no admiration of style could do ample justice to these gorgeous emotions, Mel

I sometimes feel like this in moments I spend with God. How many thousands of prayers could be lifted? How many thousands of worship songs could be written? In that moment when God is so near, He reminds me to just be still and listen to His heartbeat. Absolutely love the poem.

There might be a thousand comments to express how this poem makes me feel, but I'll just keep it simple too and call it simply beautiful!

Superb use of repetition Melissa to deliver the goodies.

The placing this in the speechless folder was perfect for it leaves me that speechless with awe.
