Restless

by Melissa Arel

Let your hand melt into mine as I sing you a lullaby
To hush that questioning heart, to comfort that troubled mind
The heartache you're facing, the grimness you bear
Has stolen the blue from your eyes, so I'm here to return it there

I've seen the fatal cut to your spirit, it drips with blood and tears
You've wandered back to your hiding place, back to the loneliness and fear
I'm knocking at your heart's door, will you let me in?
We've shared so much throughout these years, to hell and back we've been

I will always be here to meet you, exactly where you stand
Even when you're down on your knees, I will always offer a helping hand
You have my heart, I will search for yours - in that secret, darkened place
When you step from these shadows into the light, you will see my face

I wish that there was something, something I could do
To let you know, you're not alone and definitely not Love's fool
Love plays tricks on broken hearts, its restless in its quest
It has not taken the best of you, it still resides within your chest

We've loved and lost and loved again, and seem to find each other more
Drawing one another to deeper places within the human soul's core
So, now as this winding road ends, and another journey starts
I will be with you every step of the way, breathing into your heart

"We've loved and lost and loved again..." so many times these lines or variations thereof have been the salt of my own poetry....how...amazing...to find them in another's lovely words!

Absolutely beautiful. I think I see some Delirious lyrics in there! Your writing is amazing.
