my favorite color by Quinn Vokesmy favorite color
used to be green
why, you ask?
because of the spring
everything rising up
anew, giving a refreshed
feeling. my favorite color
used to be green
a forest or meadow
filled with flowers,
everything growing,
April showers.
my favorite color
used to be green
(I say "used" because
it once was, and
no longer is) my
favorite color used
to be green. I could walk
outside and feel alive
climb a picket fence
and knock down a beehive (RUN!)
but those things
don't excite me
as they used to.
my favorite color (is now)
BLACK not by choice
you see
(if I could decide
in my own mind
it would once again
be green)
some people say BLACK
is all the colors mixed
like my feelings -
so many it's hard to pick
some people say white
is just the absence of color
like my feelings - apathy
I have now become duller
my favorite color (is now)
BLACK, but just you
wait and see
some day, this is true
I'll get out of the gutter
and climb back on my cloud
(and make my father PROUD)
where I belong and I
can see the heavenly beings...
and my favorite color
(will once again) be green 01/12/2003

Good stuff Quinn.
Peace... |

Posted by Anne Engelen on 01/13/03 at 06:21 PM how strongly colours are attached to feelings and visa versa....
if you just look at the coulour without connecting it to a feeling black surely is beautiful too! |
Posted by William Teo on 01/16/03 at 02:10 PM I like the way, you describe black and white being mix of all colors (feelings) and absence of colors (feelings). Very creative, thou a minor pt, Black is suppose to be absence of colors, and White is when all the colors are mixed together. |
