dirty underwear

by Olivia Weinkein

she burns dirty underwear
and cries in fishbowls so no
one will know and he doesn't
love her for that or this so
i guess it's all the same when
we can't break free yet we
don't fit in and i won't prom
ise to like where we will get
from here only the idea of
having someone like you near
i hear rain tastes sweeter in
minds full of rot and that dis
ease you're wearing isn't the
one i've got so lets run some
where cleaner and we'll burn
it all away though i never plan
ned on leaving, it's just that
you never planned to stay...

Thought provoking expression of inner turmoil. I especially like how you close off the poem. Congrats on being POTD.

Congrats, Olivia. I'm so glad we have POTD b/c look at the wonderful poetry I would've missed out on! Love that the rhyming is not obvious, love the way it is organized. Weel deserved nomination. :)
