Mermaid by Julie Adams
Waves of Atlantis
crash inside
tummy does
sumersaults in her
riptide love,
drawn in
tossled against
sharp coral,
I cry out
saltwater invades
my wounds
caught in the momentum
she pulls,
pushes away,
pulls harder
swimming through me
blue engulfs my intuition
like seaweed,
tangled, tickling
this mernaid's
silvery tail

Posted by Lacy D Phillips on 12/07/02 at 04:37 AM I swear that any poet worth his/her salt has written a mermaid poem! My favorite is Yeats (though most of his other stuff is over-rated). |
