The Overseas Connection

by Anne Engelen

Have you ever noticed that string

across the ocean connecting hearts and souls?

It’s abilities are endless

always within reach

Waiting to be called upon

Ready for a siege

This colourful thread

connects your soul with mine

It’s colours change often

but always stay divine

Dark colours putting you or me low

You pull...I tug

You tug...I pull

And mysteriously our string will glow

Changing colours just like our mood

When talking to you bad changes into good

Listen carefully...

It also carries sound

Revealing the way you feel

is only part of the deal

Around the world this thread just goes

Connecting hearts, connecting souls

Yours and mine are already tuned in

On this overseas connection string

Which holds unconditional love within

Ah this twine of thine has caught me and my friend Lavonuna and coloured us Anne. Yes, this thread is a miracle I dearly love... look whom it has brought into my study!

Anne, its so interesting how we percieve the messages in poetry. I lived overseas for most of my childhood and this captured so much of the feelings I had, and still have, of my youth... how miles and time zones and oceans and continents have no bearing on true friendships... marvelous poem and sentiment!
