Hollow Man

by Teri T Lahmon

I held you
In my embrace I whispered
Sang sweet notes
And loved
filling your imagination with the fertile
Euphoric landscapes of my heart.
My lips graced your brow
And warmth enveloped your cold
lonely body.
I cradled you in my bosom
And caressed your spirit with my
eroticism
Happily unfolding to your pleasure
You were inside
More loved and safe than you will ever know...
Afraid, you abandoned my arms
Tears pricked the corners of my eyes like the tips
of minute daggers
Looking down
I saw you'd left your heart at my feet
Like a supplicant leaving an offering
At the temple of a goddess.
