No One Knows Where I Am

by Ronald A Pavellas

No one knows where I am
Covered by oak and laurel
Surrounded by thistle and grass
Bathed by a cooling wind

This hill is home to many
The insects and animals
Subdued by simmering sun
I am the visitor here

No one is here with me
My thoughts are mine alone
Influenced by no other
Save the rustling trees and grass

These are my companions
The rocks, the ground
Overlaid with years of leaves
The darting fly thirsting for my sweat
The bird guarding her nest
The welcome breeze cooling my body

The meadows now turn sere
Having only recently been so green
With Spring's towering rains

And I sit in this familiar place
A witness once again
To the endless cycle of
Growth decay and re-birth

And no one knows where I am

Beautiful marriage with the natural world - a special moment by yourself.

I simply love this poem. You have captured the very essence of poetry and the way I feel when I am fortunate to feel such. Congratulations on POTD.

Good to see this as POTD! Such an intimate feel to this even with life bustling all around you.
