Castle Hassle

by Charles E Minshall

____________________________

"Mans home is his castle" they say.
It is if he's able to pay.
Pay the taxes at the end of each year,
Pay for the things his family holds dear.

Pay for the gas, lights, and the water,
Pay for the essentials of life that matter,
Pay the payments on the house,
Pay for a refrigerator for his spouse.

It's pay and pay "ad nauseam,"
To keep up a home can cost him.
The word in the quote is castle.
A more fitting word is hassle.

I could have gone all day without seeing the word taxes Charlie. Your fine poem made it all worth while though. You hit the nail on the head. Peace...

I'm glad i came across this one in your folders. First of all, it gave me a chuckle, but most of all, I am headed home from a vacation and what awaits me in our little bill file drawer is our tax bills :-( Thanks, Chaz.
