Hello
06/09/2014 11:40 a.m.
Hello.I hope everyone is having a good summer so far.We are enjoying our coffee and a new day. We were home briefly and are off again. My son and brother are looking after our home and Little Buddy, our cat. We will stop at the house a few times between going back and forth from the zoo, lake and our lodge resort near Southern Pines before heading out to Floydfest and then on to Colorado for about a month....or more.
[when I have more time I will post some nature and family pics]

*Yes I am hidden in some of these pics, lol, hint: I am in pink beating big drum with one stick in lower-mid left side of last pic......and we let many people beat our drum too....in all the fun....and crying.....this was a very special and emotionally moving festival. This was my way of contributing in honor of my brother and mother who succumbed to cancer.

PostFemaleParent Day
It is finally postfemaleparent day.I am glad. This picture was taken as I am riding home from working the Raleigh Flea Market at the NC State Fairgrounds on this past Mother’s Day Weekend. I was very happy as we had a very good weekend vending and also buying the deals for personal use as well! We are part –time pickers and have a lot of fun with it. We packed up early and I was home by 5pm and I cooked us a fantastic NY Strip Steak, squash, onions , sweet potato and carrot dinner because I wanted to. To work on Mother’s Day? Crazy but not to me as I don’t view it like most do. And this smile is because we made money despite me spending money. I love the flea market where true untainted free-market capitalism is alive and well. I am wearing my new earrings($2.50) and new dress($12.50) and I bought my grandchildren’s upcoming birthday presents at very good bargains and we sold everything and made a good profit after expenses were paid, including the priceline hotel room I bid for!(where a person named Adeyeye Adejoke from Nigeria living in NYC left their inhalers and 5 bottles of prescription drugs including opiates and syringes in the bedside stand and I immediately called front desk!)What an interesting weekend it has been.
As a former art teacher, I taught art lessons concerning its inception with great cards and gifts to poverty income students. It was about the honoring of our parents and in particular, our mothers. And we all have parents, whether we knew them or not. I was sensitive to my students’ often broken situations and most were very appreciative of this opportunity. And they were proud of their creations whether it be for their real mother or caretaker. I chose to step down from teaching and have traveled a lot ever since. Personally, I have mixed feelings about it and many my age have lost their mothers to death. When I got home, I took the rest of the selfies to preserve the memory of this happiness. Everyone does mother’s day different….this one was one of my best ones….and we got an old kettle drum and suntans to take with us to DrumStrong Festival next weekend as well!

So yes, it was a happy female parent day for me personally. But I celebrate motherhood everyday. I celebrate life!

Peace Like a River

Paul Simon wrote this beautiful song....now his life is a mess.....anyways, I love the way my friend Andy Goessling and his band, The Sleeping Bees, perform it.
This is not the best live recording but they are very talented. This is where we celebrated my birthday this past December as part of our trek retracing my roots into upstate NY. I did not know Andy in the 70's but knew of him and his band that played at The Soundside at the Outer Banks of NC.and we have since become friends trading ancient stories of experiences related to places and music.Enjoy
