say goodbye to the 2004 Monday
12/28/2004 02:27 a.m.
Today is officially the last Monday of the year 2004.
For everyone who has had a bad 2004 Monday ~ here's to you!
I bid you farewell evil 2004 Monday, may you never reign supreme again.
AAAhhh...
A sense of calm seemed to rush over me when this tiny thought crossed my mind.
Now on to new business.
This tad bit of knowledge can only mean one thing...
That next (2005) Monday, I get to start over fresh and brand new. And the next 52 Mondays deemed worthy of the number 2005 will hopefully leave a better legacy than the ones before.
I am pretty sure I can handle that.
That is until Monday rolls around.
Oh well. I am currently Dorky
I am listening to the jingling of Squire's collar.

my Christmas carol
12/24/2004 07:09 p.m.
Just a few days ago while my mother and I were shopping, she asked me what my favorite Christmas carol is. I told her Silent Night. I have loved this song for as long as I can remember. As a child, I can recall listening to it over and over. Come to find out that is Momma's favorite song as well. So I decided (just for the fun of it) to take this quiz to see what my Christmas carol may be.
And I simply smiled at the answer .
You Are "Silent Night" |

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
You never forget that Christmas is about the birth of Christ.
Santa and eggnog are just gravy
|
Merry Christmas everyone. May the next two nights be just as holy and just as wonderful as that "Silent Night" so long ago. God Bless You. I am currently Peaceful
I am listening to myself~singing Silent Night.

slip sliding away
12/23/2004 05:23 p.m.
I have said it many times before, and I will say it again...
there is a reason I live in the South!
I DON'T LIKE SNOW
OR ICE
OR SLEET
OR ANYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH THEM!
It is scary to see some Southerners dealing with all this mess. (me being first in line) When you are not accustomed to such conditions there will be issues when said conditions arise.
Or shall I say, fall. And fall it did. Sleet turned into snow that overnight turned into ice.
It is really pretty and neat to play in especially since we don't get to experience winter weather that often; but we can't get the good "drivable" white stuff. No, we get the shiney-slip-and-fall-flat-on-your-keister white stuff.
The roads are frozen solid with at least 2 inchs of ice.
Tried to get to work. Didn't happen. Got 5 blocks from my house and had to turn around. I-40 is at a standstill. It is taking over 4 hours to make a trip that usually takes about 20 minutes. And I was just trying to get to work. Most of the people on the interstate are trying to get home for Christmas.
So, here I am. Inside all nice and toasty warm. Sending out a prayer to all of those who are braving these bad roads. God speed you weary travelers. May you safely arive at your destination. And my you have a very blessed Christ-filled holiday. I am currently Cool
I am listening to nothing ~ again.

I've got crabs
12/21/2004 12:25 a.m.
Two of them to be exact.
One is named Ant.
The other Purpleclaws.
Hermit crabs.
They are a Christmas present
for my nephew.
But they are going to live with me.
He named them all by himself.
They are very interesting creatures.
Quite ugly actually.
Needly eyes. Pinchey fingers.
Purpleclaws has already changed shells.
My dog likes to stand on his two hind
feet and beg for them.
As if I am going to let him play with
them. I don't think so.
When he gets tired of begging,
he will bark to remind me he is waiting.
His last resort is tapping gently
on the glass.
At which point, he gets in trouble.
The things Aunties do for the little
ones they love.
~betcha thought this was going to be
a totally different entry
Shame on you.
Curosity killed the cat.
Satisfaction brought it back.~ I am currently Bemused
I am listening to nothing.

The CHRISTmas Ten Commandments
12/18/2004 04:34 p.m.
1. Thou shalt give thy heart to Christ. Let Him be at the top of thy
Christmas list
2. Thou shalt prepare thy soul for Christmas. Spend not so much on gifts
that thy soul is forgotten.
3. Thou shalt not let Santa Claus replace Christ, thus robbing the day of
its spiritual reality.
4. Thou shalt not burden the shop girl, the mailman, and the merchant with
complaints and demands.
5. Thou shalt give thyself with thy gift. This will increase its value a
hundred fold, and he who receiveth it shall treasure it forever.
6. Thou shalt not value gifts received by their cost. Even the least
expensive may signify love, and that is more priceless than silver and gold.
7. Thou shalt not neglect the needy. Share thy blessings with many who
will go hungry and cold unless thou are generous.
8. Thou shalt not neglect thy church. Its services highlight the true
meaning of the season.
9. Thou shalt be as a little child. Not until thou has become in spirit as
a little one art thou ready to enter into the kingdom of Heaven.
10. Thou shall not forget to share your joy, peace and faith with those
around you.

The Twelve Days of Christmas
12/17/2004 03:53 a.m.
(found this and really loved it, just wanted to share)
The History of the Christmas Carol
What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially that partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not allowed to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning; the surface meaning, plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality, which the children could remember.
The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.
The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
The Five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.
The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit: Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.
The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.
Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-control.
The ten lords a-leaping were the Ten Commandments.
Eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.
Twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.
So there is your history lesson for today and now you know how that strange song became a Christmas Carol!

I am listening to the christmas carol going round and round in my head.

18 degrees
12/15/2004 03:20 a.m.
It is supposed to get really cold tonight.
Like 18 degrees cold.
That means I have to leave the water running so my pipes won't freeze.
Nothing worse than waking up and having frozen pipes.
Can't shower, brush your teeth, nothing.
Plus, it really sucks slipping yourself into a cold lonely bed with no one to keep you warm.
But I am used to sleeping that way.
And wakeing up that way.
And living that way.
Cold & Lonely.
Like 18 degrees.
I am currently Detached
I am listening to building 429 ~ above it all
