A Note To Readers by Chris Sorrenti
Hi everyone,
I would first of all like to say thanks to all of you who have taken the trouble to read my work, whether it be only one piece, or on a regular basis. As I’ve said before, the numbers keep on rising, which has always been encouraging. So again, many thanks.
Over the past year, my output has slowed to a crawl, and happily so. This is due to advancing age (about to turn 69), and as I’ve told others recently, feel I’ve pretty well said everything there is to say. That’s not to say, there won’t be moments of inspiration in the future, where I’ll feel the urge to jot something down. And if so, so be it. Meanwhile, I’m enjoying the quiet.
I’m truly happy with what I’ve accomplished over the years, and though
not all of them masterpieces, confident enough of the better ones will survive, one way or another, the test of time.
As to the mental health aspect, as I’ve stated several times, writing is first and foremost, good therapy. Over the course of my life, poetry has helped me to survive the ravages of ADHD, and though not cured (still get scatter brained from time to time), for the most part, I’ve mellowed out quite a lot, and comfortable with who I’ve become. Again, my apology to those I hurt or offended along the way.
As for Pathetic.org, as of last week, although I still have the ability to post new work, editing and updating older work is no longer available.
To me, this rings the death knell for Pathetic.org, for though I’m not writing a lot of new stuff, the tinkering with older work never stops. The same for updating the amount of hits on each new poem. On the bright side, I see it as a good sign, that Gavin Roy, the site owner, is making progress with the new eMuse.org.
After some consideration, I have decided not to transfer my work to the new location. Instead, I will slowly begin to repost work on the new site, choosing what I consider to be my best. And for those who may be interested, I have also begun posting my best poems on Facebook in jpeg format. If you’ve got an account, don’t hesitate to stop by and say hello.
Finally, as for Staccato Rhythms, it will remain open ended for now. I was hesitant to do so at first, but considering my first collection, Beginnings, spans seven years, I’m cool with that decision.
Happy Halloween everyone, and again, many thanks!
