A special anniversary

a calling answered
emblem adopted
to accurately reflect
the journey at hand

A 15-year-old kid
head full of a bad wiring
with no guarantee
of success in anything
let alone
long term survival

And oh! the adventures
he’d have to endure
between then and now
at 68 looking back
surprised that he made it
this far

Chalking it up
while giving thanks to
the horseshoe
up his ass
and the angel
on his shoulder
